History of Mountain Woods
The story of Mountain Woods Furniture is a love story:
it begins with one man's love of the art and craft of creating high quality rustic furniture...and continues over the four decades in which MWF has grown to become a leader and innovator in the US rustic furniture industry.
Founder and president Tim Saltonstall built his first piece of rustic furniture in 1973, just outside Laramie, Wyoming. Since then, every piece of furniture created by MWF shares in his original vision — inspired by the Rocky Mountains — and developed by dedicated craftsmen who still create each piece by hand.
From 2001-2010, the company was owned by Mike and Dee O'Connell, who led the company through a decade of tremendous change throughout the log furniture industry. They put MWF in the forefront of the sustainability movement as a Founding Member of the Sustainable Furniture Council.
In 2011 MWF was sold to Daryl and Maureen Joy... in large part because Mr. Joy visited the plant and "fell in love with the quality of the product."
Today, Mountain Woods Furniture is admired for its combination of award-winning traditional design, innovative flair, meticulous craftsmanship and durability.
The line of products — over 200 items — brings a rustic aesthetic into a wide range of settings: log homes, ranches, ski chalets and lodges, hotels, and traditional homes.
It's your turn to fall in love: choose a set of Mountain Woods Furniture for a 'Colorado room' or a single signature accent piece to make a statement...you'll be purchasing a legacy of beauty to be enjoyed for years to come.
